THE BRIEF: CNN INDONESIA NEWS STUDIO
PT Trans Media Corporation is one of the biggest media companies in Indonesia. In partnership with Turner Broadcasting Asia Pacific Inc, Trans Media launched CNN Indonesia, a 24-hour news channel, in March 2015. C2S was commissioned by Trans Media to design, supply and integrate the studio, infrastructure and playout facilities for this major channel at Trans TV headquarters in central Jakarta. As a 24-hour channel, CNN Indonesia needed a studio able to go live at any time, with reliable infrastructure and a fast workflow between the studio floor, the control room and playout.
THE SOLUTION
The CNN Indonesia news studio was designed for the demands of round-the-clock news. On the studio floor, Sony HDC-1700 broadcast cameras and a Jimmy Jib crane capture presenters and guests, supported by Autoscript prompting, Sennheiser wireless microphones and Telex intercom and IEM systems.
In the production control room, a Sony MVS-6530 3M/E vision switcher and Vizrt graphics deliver the on-air look of the channel, while an SSL C10 HD console handles audio. Signal distribution relies on Evertz routing, multiviewers, glue and reference systems, with Snell equipment for format conversion and Leader instruments for video measurement.
Output from the studio is managed by an Evertz master control switcher, forming the link between production and playout. By taking responsibility for the design, supply and integration of the studio, infrastructure and playout facilities, C2S provided Trans Media with a complete HD news studio for CNN Indonesia at the Trans TV headquarters in Jakarta.
